I think its maybe for young people the early attraction 'puppy love' doesn't read like a 'sexual attraction' - it's an attraction for the opposite/same sex, not like they want to jump anyone's bones. It's more infatuation, romantic feeling or attraction - but I wouldn't call that sexual . That rings true for me.
Children are not sexually attracted to anyone until they hit puberty and even then. I'm having trouble with this language. What am I missing?

I don't disagree with you - what's your point? Generally gay kids get targeted for transitioning because they're usually gender-norm non conforming.

I've distinctly had same sex crushes growing up but have never had sexual attraction to a woman. So yes that sounds good.
